Funding

The TARA Akshar program was developed by Victor Lyons and TARAhaat. Funding for Tara Akshar R&D came from ReadingWise and TARAhaat.

280 TARA Akshar centres now operating are funded by DFID, the UK Government's development agency, through its PACS program - Poorest Areas Civil Society.

In Addition,

5 centers in Madhya Pradesh are funded by TARAhaat.

3 centers in Mewat, Haryana, are funded by Connect For Change, a UK charity.

3 centers in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, are funded by Sarvodaya Ashram and TARAhaat.

We also have funding from Telecentre.org - a consortium of the Canadian and Swiss Goverments and Microsoft - to develop new techniques for the delivery of TARA Akshar in telecentres.
