About Saakshar Bharat Mission 2012
The Honoble Prime Minister of
India Dr.Manmohan Singh launched Saakshar Bharat Mission 2012, a centrally sponsored scheme
of Department of School Education and Literacy (DSEL), Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD), Government of
India
(GOI), on
8th September, 2009.
It aims
to further promote and strengthen Adult Education, specially of women, by extending
educational options to those adults who having lost the opportunity of access to
formal education and crossed the standard age for receiving such education, now
feel a need for learning of any type, including, literacy, basic education (equivalency
to formal education), vocational education (skill development), physical and emotional
development, practical arts, applied science, sports, and recreation.
Brief on TARA Akshar+
TARA
Akshar+ delivers scalable solutions to adult illiteracy through a highly innovative
programme that uses sophisticated learning techniques and memory hooks, through
minimally trained computer-aided instructors. It enables almost anyone to read,
write and do simple arithmetic with more than 95 per cent success rate in just seven
weeks of two-hour classes daily.
Validation for Saakshar Bharat Mission 2012

TARA Akshar+ with SRC Jaipur:
The first validation programme of TARA Akshar+ took place under the Saakshar Bharat Mission, supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of
India. The programme was conducted at Malakhera Gram Panchayat of Alwar District
in Rajasthan and made 28 women literate with 100 per cent success rate.

TARA Akshar+ with SRC Uttarakhand:
The second validation programme of TARA Akshar+ was conducted in collaboration with
SRC-Uttarakhand at Sapera Basti, Nanurkhera and at the Dev Hrishi Colony, Dehrakash
in Dehradun from
25 October 2010 to 20 January 2011. This programme has made 60
women literate with 100 per cent success rate.

TARA Akshar+ with SRC Haryana:
The third validation programme started in collaboration with SRC-Haryana on
14 December
2010 at Kohand
village of
Karnal
District. This programme will make 30 women literate.
